Summary: A portrait of the Mennonite experience focusing on Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, but beginning with background of the Menno Simons Era (16th century). Using interviews, the past is seen through the eyes of those who experienced it. The film follows Mennonites through migration, prosperity and persecution using archival footage, present day footage from the Soviet Union, and drama. It is a film about the past with a message of hope for tomorrow. (Award: Chicago).
